At Loyola Preparatory School, prayer, worship and liturgical celebration are central to our Catholic tradition and form an integral part of every school day. We believe that through prayer and worship, our pupils and staff nurture a living relationship with God, who loves us deeply and calls each of us by name.
Our faith teaches us that God desires a relationship with us, and that relationship grows stronger through our worship of Him, the time we spend talking and listening to Him, both individually and as a community.
Prayer is encouraged and celebrated in a variety of ways at Loyola:
Daily Life of Prayer and Worship
At Loyola, worship is woven into the rhythm of the school day. Formal prayers are said at key moments throughout the day, to open and close school sessions, before and after meals, and at the end of the school day. These moments provide structure, stillness and reflection, helping pupils to see that God is present in all that we do and can be found in our school Prayer Booklet.
Our worship takes many forms: spontaneous prayer, Scripture reflection, music, silence, and traditional Catholic prayers. We also celebrate the liturgical seasons through Masses, assemblies, and class-led liturgies.
Our Collective Worship Community
Collective Worship at Loyola is more than a routine, it is a vital expression of our Catholic faith and identity. Each pupil is encouraged to play an active role in leading and participating in prayer, helping them to develop confidence, reverence and responsibility.
We value the opportunity for our children to:
Our Collective Worship reflects the richness of our Catholic heritage while being inclusive and welcoming to all members of our school community, regardless of faith background.
Worship and Liturgy Timetable
Our school community takes part in a daily act of worship, with formal prayers marking the beginning and end of each school day and taking place at various other times throughout the week.
