The Path Lighters is a prayer group that offers pupils a welcoming space to come together regularly for prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth in keeping with our school’s values.
Through shared prayer and discussion, pupils support one another and deepen their understanding of Jesus’ teachings. The group’s leaders meet regularly to guide, encourage, and take part in activities that reflect the faith, compassion, and community at the heart of our school.
Each month, the Path Lighters will follow a shared prayer-focused timetable to help shape and strengthen their time in prayer together. Linked to each month’s theme, the boys will take part in a practical activity and then reflect on what they observed, what they learned, and the impact it had on themselves and others. This pattern of action and reflection encourages prayer to be expressed through daily living, not only words.
The Path Lighters created a beautiful Epiphany box, decorated with images that bring the story of Epiphany to life.
Inside the box are slips of paper inviting pupils and visitors to reflect on what gift they might offer to Jesus today, perhaps hope, love or joy.
Everyone was also encouraged to write a personal prayer, as Henry did, making this a simple but meaningful way for our community to engage with the message of Epiphany through reflection and prayer, connecting the story of the Magi with everyday acts of kindness and faith.

In December, Path Lighters focused on Advent as a season of preparation and prayer. Through weekly candle lighting and guided reflections on hope, peace, joy, and love, alongside the Advent Angels activity, the boys were invited to experience prayer in a reflective and shared way. Using candle prayers, reflection prompts, and Advent calendar ideas, pupils developed a deeper understanding of different forms of prayer, especially communal and reflective practices rooted in Catholic tradition.

In November, Path Lighters focused on the Holy Souls through the creation of a Book of Remembrance, where prayers and memories were recorded and shared. Using prayer intention templates, reflection guides, and art materials, the boys expressed their thoughts and intentions in a thoughtful and creative way. This activity demonstrated their understanding of different forms of prayer, including reflective and communal practices rooted in Catholic tradition.

In October, Path Lighters focused on the Rosary and Mission Month by leading Rosary sessions with different groups of children in Mary’s Prayer Garden. Using rosary beads, prayer cards, and reflection prompts, the boys prepared for and guided these prayer times with care. Through this, they showed active and conscious participation in prayer and the liturgical life of the school, leading younger pupils with growing confidence and engaging deeply in age-appropriate prayer experiences.

In September, Path Lighters was created, and their first sessions focused on the themes of Creation and new beginnings through creation-themed prayer service and assembly on stewardship. They also included discussions about the future of the group, with pupils sharing ideas for activities and reflecting on how they wanted Path Lighters to grow over the year.
