    Why Choose Loyola

Group of Loyola boysFor a long time, boys-only schools have been surrounded by misconceptions that have given rise to many stereotypes. At Loyola, we see each child as an individual but recognise that the majority of boys learn differently to girls, mature at different ages and often have different levels of concentration.

As a result, we tailor the learning environment to ensure that lessons engage and motivate our learners.  Practical lessons such as dissecting owl pellets in science, creating animation in computing or solving a “Who Dunnit?” in maths, inspire and help to embed learning.

Smaller classes with a full-time teaching assistant and specialist teachers ensure that learning in core subjects is at an optimum in the mornings.  With this completed, the afternoons allow for shorter, timetabled practical lessons where the focus is in short bursts, allowing the boys creativity to flow.

Also with the need for movement, lessons are timetabled in different rooms (upper years) and up to 3 PE sessions per week throughout the school, with some year groups also having music & movement, swimming, tennis, badminton & trampolining or sailing.

The core values of our school focus on high expectations for all learners, developing skills for life, encouraging high self-esteem and developing a set of core moral values based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ.

These values are central to every part of our lives. They are reflected in the way that we treat each other, the way that we look for every day opportunities to help those in need and in the example we demonstrate to all those we meet. Our children have faith and let God be their guide.

Academic excellence is strived for and our fantastic 11+ results demonstrate this year on year, with 38 offers and 6 academic or sports scholarships to top academic schools, including the first step to Harrow, Eton and Winchester College at 13+ in 2024.

Loyola choir boys Boys thrive at Loyola. They seamlessly take on nurturing roles such as play leaders or mentors which may not happen if in a co-ed school.

They participate in drama and choral productions and aim to be a part of the prestigious choir and Schola, which allows for descants and harmonies within our sung Masses.

The boys at Loyola really are incredible in all that they do, and we are so proud of the young men they become, fully equipped to be the very best version of themselves when they leave to go into the wider world.
