RE Curriculum

Loyola boys in their classroomAt Loyola, we aim to provide a rich, inspiring Religious Education that helps children grow in faith, understanding, and compassion.

We follow the Religious Education Directory (RED, 2023) from Kindergarten (Nursery) to Rudiments (Year 6), ensuring children’s learning grows and develops as they move through school.

Our lessons are supported by the Magister resources, which bring together Scripture, Catholic teaching, Liturgy, and Catholic Social Teaching in meaningful and engaging ways.

In line with Diocesan guidance, at least 10% of our weekly timetable is dedicated to RE.

Our curriculum ensures that pupils:

  • Explore and understand Bible stories and key Church teachings.
  • Take part in prayer, liturgy, and reflection, developing a personal relationship with God.
  • Learn about Catholic Social Teaching, putting faith into action through kindness, justice, and service.
  • Discover Other World Religions, fostering respect and understanding for people of all faiths and backgrounds.

The Magister scheme of work supports teachers with high-quality lesson plans, resources, and assessments, ensuring RE is consistently taught to a high standard across all year groups.
