Solidarity and Peace

Solidarity and Peace

Solidarity means ‘agreement of feeling or action’. In Catholic Social Teaching, this means being together with other people in agreeing and promoting peace in the world. We do this because we believe we are all sisters and brothers of one another, because God made all of us in His image. We should work to make sure everyone is living in peace with each other.

Building Community Through Collaboration

Loyola Prep boys reading togetherAt our school, boys are encouraged to work together and support one another in a variety of ways, fostering a strong sense of community and mutual respect. Whether it is older boys reading with younger pupils, helping them with tasks, or lending a hand and showing kindness in the playground, these everyday actions build bonds of trust and cooperation.

This spirit of collaboration reflects the CST value of Solidarity and Peace. Solidarity means standing together, sharing in each other’s experiences, and promoting harmony, and the boys learn that by supporting one another, they contribute to a peaceful and caring environment. Through these moments, they grow in understanding that we are all connected as God’s children, and that working together with compassion and respect is a way of living out our faith and fostering a community where everyone can thrive.

PREP READING TO PP1

Loyola Prep boys readingThe boys in Prep visited PP1 to share their own stories inspired by The Stone Trolls. They read aloud with expression and enthusiasm, making sure to capture the attention and imagination of the younger pupils.

The Prep boys took great care to be patient, engaging, and encouraging, hoping that their storytelling not only entertained but also set a positive example. By taking the time to support and inspire the PP1 boys, they aimed to be excellent role models, demonstrating kindness, confidence, and the joy of reading aloud.
