Last Tuesday, we came together for a moving Remembrance Day assembly, led with great maturity and respect by our Prep boys. The occasion was made even more special by the presence of two Beaver leaders, who joined us to honour the sacrifices made by so many and to help our boys reflect on the importance of remembrance in our lives today.
The assembly offered a moment of stillness and unity, as pupils from across the school paused to remember those who served and continue to serve. Our Prep boys guided the school through readings, reflections, and prayers, demonstrating compassion, leadership and a deep understanding of the significance of the day.
In the lead-up to the assembly, all boys were invited to design and create their own poppy. The response was remarkable. From hand-drawn illustrations to 3D creations, and from fabric badges to poppies crafted from recycled materials, the variety and creativity on display captured the spirit of personal remembrance beautifully. Many boys chose colours, textures, and shapes that held their own meaning, and the finished pieces were proudly worn or displayed during the assembly.
These thoughtful works of art showcased not only the boys’ creativity, but also their empathy and care—qualities we are proud to see at the heart of Loyola life.
Our sincere thanks go to the Prep team for leading such a meaningful occasion, and to our visiting Beaver leaders for joining us in this important moment of reflection. It was a privilege to see our school community come together in gratitude and respect. We will remember them.
