Academy 2025: Celebrating Excellence, Character and Community

Academy 2025 was a truly memorable celebration of everything that makes our school so special. Across two wonderful events, our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils came together with parents, families and staff to recognise not only academic excellence, but also the character, determination and kindness that define our school community.

From our youngest pupils in PP1 and PP2 to our departing Rudiments, Academy reminded us that success takes many forms. Whether boys were recognised for exceptional achievement, outstanding progress, sporting success, artistic talent or consistently living out our Jesuit values, every award reflected months of hard work, perseverance and personal growth.

Our Key Stage 1 Awards Assembly was a joyful afternoon that celebrated the enthusiasm and curiosity of our youngest learners. Every pupil had the opportunity to shine as achievements across the curriculum were recognised, alongside Sports Day successes and special awards for excellence in English, Mathematics and Religious Education. The presentation of the Hume Scholarship was a particularly proud moment, recognising exceptional academic attainment in PP2 and inspiring younger pupils to dream big as they continue their own educational journey.

The Academy Evening for Key Stage 2 was equally uplifting. Bringing together pupils from Prep through to Rudiments, the ceremony celebrated academic success across the curriculum, sporting achievements and those boys whose conduct and commitment to our school values earned them The Gentleman's Cup. The atmosphere throughout the evening perfectly reflected the spirit of Academy: a genuine delight in celebrating the achievements of others and recognising that every success strengthens our whole community.

The evening's traditions added to the occasion's significance. Hearing from our guest speaker, an ex Loyola Boy, our Head Boy, celebrating our Rudiments as they received their Leavers' ties and certificates, and announcing the next generation of pupil leaders served as powerful reminders of the journey our boys make during their time at the school. Watching younger pupils applaud those taking on positions of responsibility was particularly moving, planting the seeds of aspiration for the years ahead.

But Academy is about far more than trophies and certificates. It is about recognising effort, resilience and the pursuit of excellence. It reminds every boy that achievement is not reserved for a select few, but is something each individual can work towards through commitment, determination and a willingness to embrace every opportunity.

For many boys, seeing friends and older pupils recognised has provided fresh motivation as they look ahead to the next academic year. They have seen what can be achieved through hard work, kindness, perseverance and service to others, and they return after the summer with new goals to pursue and new standards to strive towards. Whether aiming for academic awards, sporting honours, leadership roles or simply to become the very best version of themselves, every pupil has something to aspire to.

None of this would be possible without the partnership between school and home. We are immensely grateful to our parents for the encouragement and support they give their sons every day, and to our dedicated staff whose commitment and care help every boy to flourish. Together, we create an environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to fulfil his potential.

Academy 2025 was a fitting celebration of another remarkable year. It showcased not only what our boys have achieved, but who they are becoming: young gentlemen of character, compassion and ambition. Every pupil, parent and member of staff should feel incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together.

As we look forward to the new academic year, Academy leaves us with a renewed sense of optimism. It reminds us that excellence is built day by day, that hard work is always worthwhile, and that within every boy lies the potential to achieve great things. We cannot wait to see what the year ahead will bring.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam - for the greater glory of God.
